The following are policies to be considered for First United Methodist Church Grand Prairie. These policies are not meant to be legalistic or judgmental of persons, but a statement of the boundaries of the church. This is not a complete list. Some things are a matter of common sense. 1. There shall be no use of tobacco in the church building, or in the church vans, or in the presence of children or youth. 2. There shall be no use of alcohol in the church building, in the church vans, or at church related events. 3. Person’s will never be ridiculed for the quality of their clothing, but those wearing lewd or suggestive clothing will be asked to change or cover the questionable garment. 4. The use of profanity or offensive language is prohibited. 5. Even though we are a hugging church, those who act as if they would prefer not being hugged or ask not to be hugged will have their comfort zone honored. Hugging and touching shall be done in taste and as a brother or sister would hug. 6. Driving the church van shall be for church events or those approved by the church. Any use of the van for illegal purposes or those not condoned by the church is prohibited. Drivers must have their drivers licence number registered in the church office and be 21 years old or older. 7. Youth and children must be supervised by at least two adults while at the church or on a church related activity. 8. When two persons of the opposite sex are having a private conversation in a room at the church there must be another person who has access to the room. 9. Dating between staff members or a staff member and a parishioner must be approved by the pastor and the Pastor Parish Relations Committee. 10. Any behavior that is not representative of or conducive to the ministry of the church will be confronted and the person or persons will be asked to stop. 11. Any concern about a person or person who is not complying with these policies needs to be reported to a member of the ministry staff or a member of the Executive Committee of the church. The Pastor Parish Relations Committee shall be the arbiter of all these policies. |
