Meditate on the scripture Matthew 5:38-48. “Pray for those who persecute you.”


If you get angry at another driver, pray for them! Concentrate on letting them drive right on out of your life.

UMCOR Sunday

April 2nd


February 17th UMCOR granted $10,000 to United Methodist Church (UMC) in Mozambique for food distribution in the Inhambane area on the southeast coast, for those affected by Cyclone Dineo.


Cyclone Dineo killed at least seven people, injured more than 50, and displaced thousands across southern Mozambique. More than 20,000 homes, 70 health centers, and 1000 school rooms were destroyed by the cyclone.

 

UMCOR Sunday will be April 2nd. Offering left at the communion rail will go to support disaster relief and recovery in the U.S. and all around the world.

Service- Prayer & Self-Denial

United Methodist Women will observe the Call to Prayer and Self-Denial program at noon, Tuesday, April 4th, in the Chapel. The topic to be discussed is "Abundant Health for Women and Children." A short program will provide information about projects that UMW provides to support the health and family needs of women and children around the globe. An offering to support these mission projects will be collected. All church members are invited to attend.

Time to Think Easter

April 16th


The youth will have a bake sale on Easter Sunday as a fundraiser for their summer mission trips. If you would be willing to bake something for the sale, please bring your item(s) before worship begins on Easter, April 16th.


   The children’s department needs plastic eggs for the Easter egg hunt (and candy/goodies that will fit in the eggs; no chocolate). Please bring donations to the box in the foyer beginning next week.



UMVIM Mexico Mission Trip

April 30-May 6, 2017


The United Methodist Volunteers In Mission (UMVIM) have an opportunity to participate in one of their 2017 Spring Mission Trips.


UMVIM will be heading to Rio Bravo, Mexico from April 30-May 6, 2017. The cost is $900 plus airfare. This is a South Central Jurisdiction trip, led by UMVIM Director Audrey Phelps. The trip will focus on mission trip leadership development in addition to the mission experience. The mission trip site, Manos Juntas, is managed by United Methodist missionary Willie Berman. Troop 195 Camp Cards are available for purchase, $10 each at the church (see Rita), on Tuesday evenings at the Troop mtgs (7:00 p.m.) in the Adult Bldg., or at Dickey’s store on Main.

There are still many ministry groups who need leaders. There is no limit to the size for these groups. Over the next month, please be in prayer for where God is calling YOU to serve:

GP Food & Clothing Co-op

In March we received 717.5 lbs. of food from FUMC and wanted to thank everyone for such a blessing to our community.


Pantry Needs…Canned Meat (like chili or ravioli, etc.), Tomato products (sauce, whole, diced, etc.),

Corn, Green beans, and cash to purchase needed items.


Clothing Needs…Men’s & Boys.…Shoes (all sizes);

Men’s jeans [sizes 32 – 36]; Men’s underwear [med & lg.]; boys underwear [all sizes], Men’s summer t-shirts [all sizes] and Men’s and boys white t-shirts.

Women’s…Shoes (size 9 ½, 10, 11, 12); socks.


Other Items needed…QUEEN & KING SHEETS, BLANKETS [double, queen & king] and TOWELS


NOTE: Please check expiration date on all food items.
