Becoming A Member of Our Church

There are three ways to join First United Methodist Church Grand Prairie:

  • A person who begins the Christian life does so through baptism, which is a symbol of God's grace through Jesus Christ. For a young person or an adult, this also is an opportunity to profess one's faith.

  • Since you have been baptized into the Christian faith in another denomination, it is not necessary to be rebaptized to celebrate your spiritual growth.

  • Arrangements will be made to transfer your membership from another United Methodist Church. All of the necessary details will be handled by the church staff.

When you join First United Methodist Church Grand Prairie, you are joining a community. Being a part of any community requires that you commit yourself to that community. At FUMC Grand Prairie each new member is asked to make the following commitment:

    • Will you promise to uphold First United Methodist Church Grand Prairie with your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service, and your witness?
    • By affirmatively answering these questions, new members are committing themselves to the church, but are also being committed to by the members of First United Methodist Church Grand Prairie as well.
